Commentary for August 4, 2020: More art I’m still very proud of here. That hug in the first panel I am particularly proud of, because it really symbolises the years long friendship between Eon and Cookirini, which goes back over a decade. Eon never gave up on Cookirini, even when she was Empress Jessi-Ka; he was there for her when she turned back to the light and there was no way he was going to let her fall back to the dark here. I’m also very pleased with panels 5 and 7. There’s just something Horatio’s expression that makes him seem just a little unhinged at this point. Also, that cut over Eon’s eye is a very much based on a frequent battle injury Edward Elric gets in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, right down the blood streaming down across his eye. I did originally draw with a bloody nose, too, but that was a bit too much. Not too violent (I mean, look at this chapter), but it made his face just look a bit too busy. |
