Commentary for April 24, 2013:

Hey! You! Wakey, wakey! Something's happening now!

Seriously though, this was an interesting page to work on. Certainly it taught me that drawing very distant (and therefore small) characters can be pretty difficult, but I've since figured out ways to do it reasonably easily. Also, this is probably the first page so far to highlight the height difference between Eon and the average human. That's one of the limitations of sprites, really; unless you're extremely dedicated to the craft (and I was very dedicated), making characters of unique heights isn't a very realistic goal, not when one pixel out of place can completely change the look of a sprite. With drawing, however, it's much easier. You'll have noticed the height difference between Eon and Delta on page 1.03 already.

The "pneumatic pistol" Eon refers to in panel 6 is the PnP-65, standard issue sidearm of the Confederate Space Command, which older readers may remember from Eon's Comic. Unlike Earth's directed energy weapons, Martian hand guns still shoot bullets for the most part, although they don't use traditional cartridges packaging the bullet with the powder and primer; instead, they use compressed gas as their propellant, which allows them to be used in hard vacuum as well as in atmosphere.

Addendum for October 3, 2019:

In order to bring the format of the earlier chapters into line with Chapter 7 onwards, I’ve made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read.
