Commentary for June 28, 2020: One of the eternal torments of making a sprite comic has always been the screen you want to be visible, but can’t because of the necessities of word balloon spacing. I mean, I could have positioned the word balloons in panel 1 in a way that made that central screen with mugshots of all the wanted Freedom Fighters (with Tails crossed off) visible, but it would have looked clunky, awkward, and forced. Maybe it can be visible on a later page. Anyway, this is it, dear reader. It was teased at the end of Chapter 27, and now it’s happening. GUN is raiding Knothole. Now, this isn’t like issue 175 of Archie Sonic, where Eggman literally laid waste to the entire village (well, city really by then), captured the entire population, and left Sonic beaten (but foolishly, not defeated). No, this is a much smaller operation, a surgical strike to capture (or kill) a specific group of people. Of course, you might be thinking that GUN’s bitten off more than they can chew here, taking on the Freedom Fighters like this. But remember, Sigma-Alpha 2 is leading this op, and they’re the guys who managed to capture Sonic himself just before the events of Sonic Adventure 2. They are not to be underestimated. |
