Commentary for August 2, 2020: When I first wrote this chapter, I was still treating Eon’s Comic, the sprite comic I wrote between 2002 and 2011, as the basic backstory to Eon’s World Vol. 2, and Bunnie Rabbot was not a member of the regular cast (although she had made a couple of guest appearances very early and very late in the run due to interdimensional shenanigans, but even this was something I was seriously thinking about retconning). But when I tried to remaster Eon’s Comic in 2018, I decided to include a bunch of Archie and Fleetway Freedom Fighters, including Bunnie, and this eventually led to remaking Eon’s Comic as Eon’s World Vol. 1, which is an ongoing series set before this one, and currently wrapping up its second season. So Bunnie Rabbot is a regular cast member in Eon’s World, and Delta’s line in panel 2 about Eon joining the same club as her establishes that she is indeed a part of this setting. She hasn’t yet appeared in Vol. 2, it’s true, but she has featured prominently in Vol. 1 so far and she will likely make her Vol. 2 debut in Chapter 11 (which I expect will be coming now in 2021). Anyway, as I recall, I was very pleased with the shuttles coming out of the portal in panel 4 and even more pleased with the shuttle pilot in panel 5. He seemed like a bit of a badass to me and I jokingly called him Colonel Moustache while working on that panel. That probably isn’t his real name, mind you, and if I did bring him back and give him a real name, it would kind of ruin things, wouldn’t it? So he can stay here on this one page where he is safely Colonel Moustache, badass UNDF shuttle pilot. |
