Commentary for December 23, 2019: Okay, so that Act 1 mini-boss was all well and good, but now there are two of them ganging up on Knuckles at once. It’s like in Sonic Heroes when you aggro two Egg Hammers at once, only the Egg Hammers have got rocket launchers, tank cannons, machine guns, and lasers. But Knuckles can take a beating, of course. I may well have been channelling some of Archie Sonic issue 175 when I first wrote this page, where Doctor Eggman brought Sonic about as low as he’d ever been in the series up to then. Certainly, that story gave me a new appreciation for just how much punishment these characters can withstand. Fun fact, this chapter is where the character Tyra-Za first debuted. I don’t think I had any plans to expand upon her role in Eon’s World when I first wrote this chapter and, indeed, she didn’t even have a name back then. But while creating Chapter 11 for Eon’s World, Vol. 1, I decided to include the same character there and gave her a name. So, she was first created here in Vol. 2 without a name, imported into Vol. 1 and given a name, and then that name was brought back into Vol. 2 with the newly revised script. Confused? It’s okay if you are. In any case, I think Tyra-Za will probably continue to act as Horatio's assistant going forward in Vol. 1, too. And who knows? This story arc may not be the last we see of her in Vol. 2 either. As with the previous chapters, I have now made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text, to make it consistent with Chapter 7 onwards. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read. |
