Commentary for January 18, 2020: Believe it or not, everything in Eon’s World Vol. 2 up to now was building to this moment -- the start of the final battle against the Echidna Empire. And I was very pleased with how I managed to make some of these panels look, especially panel 3 here. On reflection, I feel as if maybe I should made the effort to wrap up the Echidna Empire stuff in Eon’s Comic back in 2011, rather than leaving it unresolved the way I did, necessitating this multi-year, season-long story arc to wrap things up, before I could get to anything else. It’s a really weird way to start what, for many folks, is a completely new comic, especially considering I’d taken Eon’s Comic offline by the time most of this ever went online and was already treating it as only loosely canon. (Indeed, Eon’s Comic is not canon anymore, as it has been replaced with Eon’s World Vol. 1, which is still several years from being complete.) If I could’ve started with a cleaner slate, like with the stories told in Chapters 8, 9, and 10, maybe things would be less confusing. Oh well, I didn’t wrap up this business with the Echidna Empire in Eon’s Comic, and that’s why this story arc exists. It’s also why Chapter 7 is as long as it is -- I just wanted to finish this arc for good... at least, insofar as anything in a comic is finished for good, that is. |
