Commentary for October 26, 2013:

There's something different about this page... I wonder what it could be...? Can you spot it?

Well, if not, then this is the page where I decided, "To hell with it! I'm drawing my own backgrounds!" Up to this point, you'll have noticed that the backgrounds have been mostly created in SketchUp, which is a useful program for simple 3D modelling, but it has its limits. Using it for the backgrounds in my comic, was, I think, only ever going to hold me back in the long run, so I've decided to move beyond that. I still use SketchUp for guidance, but from this point onwards, the backgrounds are drawn by hand and finished off in Paint Shop Pro 8, the same way as the characters. The result, I hope you will agree, is a much better looking comic, where the characters don't look like drawings superimposed onto a low res 3D background, and where horribly pixelated monstrosities like this shouldn't be seen again. Yes, this is a little more time consuming, but with the weekly schedule I have more enough time to get it done. Plus, the curtains actually look like curtains, I have complete control over shading, and it just generally looks better and is easier to work with.

Anyways, artistic decisions aside, writing speeches is something I've always enjoyed (I am the girl who made her sprite comic panels bigger to basically allow more dialogue), and there's a unique challenge to writing speeches from a political perspective I do not agree with (since I'm a leftist). President Viehman's speech here is pretty tame and conciliatory, mind you (Viehman was a moderate in Eon's Comic), but wait until you see Senator Neverman's speech on the next page...

Addendum for October 5, 2019:

In order to bring the format of the earlier chapters into line with Chapter 7 onwards, I’ve made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read.
