Commentary for May 29, 2013:

Drawing Miranda Fairchild for the first time ever (outside of the odd sketch here and there) was so much fun. She began as a relatively minor military character in Eon's Comic and I never expected her to go on to develop a life and personality all of her own (which even included family drama in the form of a massive sibling rivalry). She's among my favourite creations and I am delighted to bring her into Eon's World. I have every intention of featuring her again just as prominently as before.

Anyways, in Eon's Comic, the undershirt of the Union Fleet uniform was purple (which you can still see in old drawings like this), but I decided to make it blue for Eon's World. I regretted making it purple, honestly, but I wanted something obviously distinct from the Union Air Force, whose colour was blue. Well, the Air Force barely played a role in the series, except for their chief of staff putting in appearances at joint chiefs meetings. While I haven't yet decided what colour the Union Air Force now wears, I'm thinking a sky blue would be appropriate, whereas the Union Fleet wears a darker, more ocean blue -- given that they are descended from the G.U.N. Navy... and still operate surface vessels and submarines, believe it or not, despite their emphasis being on spacecraft nowadays.

Also, yes, these uniforms are based loosely on Starfleet uniforms, with a hint of Earthforce thrown in.

Addendum for October 3, 2019:

In order to bring the format of the earlier chapters into line with Chapter 7 onwards, Iíve made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read.
