Commentary for December 23, 2019: Well, I have to say, resizing this page has made a world of difference. The original was very cluttered with all the dialogue that needed to be included, but by making it larger (about fifty percent larger, actually), it’s so much easier to get what needs to be said in comfortably. I decided in the re-write of the script to say to hell with suspense and just straight up reveal that Kochanski’s forces have got Gizoid troopers. After all (minor spoilers), it’s not actually that important in the grand scheme of things, so why build up to a dramatic reveal? The UNDF suspects what’s going on and the real suspense is whether or not General Severnaya can reach the Aonian Rift in time. Anyway, I also tweaked the language a little surrounding the way the Imperials have been able to sneak around the system. Originally, it was described as a “subspace drive” powered by a warp ring. But given one of the recurring plot themes of the Echidna Empire’s machinations in the first season of Eon’s World Vol. 1, where Horatio is constantly working on creating portals using the Master Emerald and later the warp rings, I thought it best to use more consistent terminology and refer to it as a portal generator. After all, a subspace drive sounds almost identical to a hyperdrive, which is very much not the same thing the Imperials are using in-universe. As with the previous chapters, I have now made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text, to make it consistent with Chapter 7 onwards. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read. |
