Commentary for June 8, 2013:

What? You didn't think Eon's World could go that long without politics, did you?

This is actually the first page of Eon's World Vol. 2 to show the surface of a planetary body... and producing it was not as simple (or as quick) a task as I had hoped. I only really needed the convention centre, but I figured I would also need some kind of skyline, so, I went and made half of Iopolis... probably more. I even went so far as to model the hills in the background, but I'm not happy with the results. So, the rule I've since come up with for myself is that, while it's okay for my models to have stand-ins, anything organic needs to be drawn by me in the final image.

As for the vehicles, I wish I could say I made them, but they were generously donated by Google SketchUp's 3D warehouse, where you can obtain all sorts of things in a sort of open source way. It's a bit like sprites, really... And, yes, that includes the variable quality. If you're wondering why, in this age of readily available spaceflight, people are still driving fairly 21st century-looking vehicles... eh, nobody complained when they did it in Battlestar Galactica, so that's my excuse! Nah, seriously, I don't really see a terribly huge need for vehicles to look super advanced. Besides, look back at what people thought we'd be driving today only ten to twenty years ago. Our vehicles don't look all that different, but they tend to be more advanced internally. The same is most likely true of these vehicles.

Addendum for August 5, 2017:

I would be remiss if I didn't comment on the flags featured on this page. On the left of panel 3, you will see, making its debut, the brand new flag of the Terran Union. I went through a couple of designs before I found something I liked (and even came back and retconned this page when I came up with a new and better design in Chapter 7, four years later!)... the original was kind of based on a cross between the Union Flag and the Republic campaign logo, but it was too obvious where the inspiration was drawn from, so I came up with something different, which is what you can see on this page, along with the flag of the Jupiter Alliance, unchanged since Eon's Comic.

Addendum for October 3, 2019:

In order to bring the format of the earlier chapters into line with Chapter 7 onwards, I’ve made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read.
