The Archives In the wake of the ARK incident and the destruction of the moon, the President of the United Meridian Federation has resigned and his nation's parliament has fallen into disarray! With the eyes of the world on the politicians as they hit the campaign trail, Doctor Robotnik and other sinister figures set their plans in motion to seize power... Shadow the Hedgehog is back and even crazier than ever! For Doctor Robotnik, it's business as usual as he strives to conquer the world so that he might reshape it into his vision of a technological utopia, while the millenarian Echidna Empire, driven by religious fanaticism, seeks to overthrow the United Nations of Earth in order to restore the Great Empire of old that ruled the known world more than five thousand years ago. And all the while, sinister plots hatch within the highest ranks of the Earth's united military force, G.U.N., the ramifications of which may be more far-reaching than anyone can imagine... Displaced and nearly defeated, the Echidna Empire is struggling to survive with G.U.N. on the hunt and Doctor Robotnik's rivalry to contend with. And as if the secret construction of a new Death Egg, ten times more powerful than the original, isn't enough for the United Earth Government to contend with, now another threat to peace and happiness in the world has surfaced, a threat far older than any other. The orcs of the Black Mountains are marching to war... The United Nations of Earth has made peace with the orcs and G.U.N.'s Supreme Commander has exposed the sinister Elite Syndicate operating within the military. But this may all have come too late... While one of the greatest villains in the world may meet his end, an old enemy returns more powerful than ever, and this time they're playing for much higher stakes. This is the year when the greatest threat to the United Nations of Earth since its foundation emerges. This is the year when everything changes. The year is 2505 of the Fifth Age, the year in which the Union-Imperial War begins... War! The United Nations of Earth is on the brink of destruction. The Imperial Federation, born out of the ideology of the Echidna Empire, has set itself to the task of 'liberating' the Earth from the 'thraldom of democracy', and the war goes ill for the Union. So fierce is the conflict and so powerful has the Empire become that turmoil has spread across the globe from the northern wastes of Nordland to the Senate Hall in Grand Metropolis. With the Union increasingly divided over the handling of this bitter conflict, will G.U.N. be enough to save it? And with all eyes on the enemies without, who is keeping an eye on the enemies within...? The war continues, the Empire spreading further across the face of the Earth, threatening to bring all people under the dominion of Empress Sora-Ya and her fundamentalist regime. Hoping to better combat the threat to its very existence, the Union has made rapid and sweeping political changes, but will those changes be enough to preserve liberty and justice for all, or will they merely hasten their destruction? And, while the situation appears to be a stalemate, other, more sinister enemies of the United Nations of Earth are finally ready to put their plans into practice... With Sora-Ya a prisoner of the Union and a ceasefire in place, it looks as if an end to the war may finally be in sight. The United Nations of Earth has begun to rebuild itself, but can the fragile peace between the two sides last with dissident resistance groups continuing to engage the Empire in guerrilla warfare or, worse still, with the Empire now under the secret rule of the Sith...? The greatest military conflict on Earth since the Great War is finally over and the Empire has been utterly defeated. But as the people of Earth begin to repair the damage to their shattered world, already new threats begin to arise from beyond the stars, while old enemies return with renewed resolve and diplomatic relations between Earth and Mars begin to unravel... War has broken out between Earth and Mars, threatening the lives of millions of people throughout the Terran System. Though Ballista, the Chancellor of the United Earth Government continues to strive for a diplomatic resolution, President Zingaro of Mars refuses to listen, believing Earth to present a grave threat to his homeworld and its colonies. But as these two sides clash in the Terran System's first ever interplanetary war, remnants of the Empire under the leadership of an unknown Empress, have begun to plan anew for the day when they might seize power on Earth once more... Issue #834 to the latest issue Peace has finally been established across the Terran System. Wolds once divided by rivalry and war are now united. It is a hopeful time for the people of Earth, and the future looks bright. But not everyone is interested in peace, and sinister shadows are lengthening that may kill this bright new future in its infancy, before it even has a chance to begin... |
