Page for August 09, 2003:

Commentary for September 09, 2018:

For the remaster, one thing I really wanted to do, in the spirit of the original metaphor, was to address the use of a scary buzzword like "terrorist". After the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trace Center buildings in New York City, the word "terrorist" became a label that America (and Britain... and really every authoritarian government in the world -- even the Catholic church) started throwing around and attaching to every person or cause they didn't like. Words like "terrorist" and "enemy combatant" were used to justify things like torture and indefinite incarceration without trial. I first wrote this page at the dawn of this disturbing new age, but it continues to this day, with fearful words, of which "terrorist" is still a popular one, being bandied about to inspire hatred and fear of the other. The focus today seems to be on "immigrants", by which they really mean people who are not white. Then again, isn't that what it's always meant?

Sorry, this was another grumpy commentary written in the wee small hours of the morning. 0232 as I write this.

Addendum, September 12, 2018:

This page is noteworthy as being the first page to go online according to a regular schedule. Up to this point, I uploaded pages whenever they were completed, which meant that in some months (for instance, April 2003), there were a lot of pages, whereas others (like March 2003) had considerably fewer. But from page #109 onwards, I uploaded new pages on Wednesdays and Saturdays (usually at midnight) more-or-less every week (with a couple of extra specials every Christmas and new year). This allowed me to build up a backlog, so if I ever needed or just wanted to take a break, I could. By the time I was in university, two years later, I was working about four to six weeks ahead of schedule. I only wish I could make pages of Eon's World 2.0 as quickly.

For anyone wondering, August 09, 2003 was a Saturday.
