Commentary for September 08, 2018:

What the heck is this Purple Tree? Honestly, I'm not sure. It was kind of a character in-joke that came with Tricia Bayfield's OC, Ballista. I think she may have explained it to me at the time, but I've forgotten its relevance. The tree remains a feature in the grounds of Castle Gemini, as far as I recall, right the way through Eon's World 1.0, although Ballista's interest in it diminishes as her role in the story evolves. (Caution: major spoilers if you follow that link and have not already read Eon's World 2.0 at all.)

Did I just put a spoiler warning in red? I did!

Why was the Eggman taking the Master Emerald (i.e. the 'Controller') into space? The Eclipse Cannon is out of commission, after all. Could it be something to do with the "ultimatre weapon" he mentioned on page #097? Or could it have something to do with me finding a massive plothole in the story as I was doing the remaster?

As you may recall, E-124-A, the robotic double of Amy Rose stole the Master Emerald from Angel Island on page #096. She was destroyed by the real Amy on page #099, and we left Knuckles still looking for the Master Emerald. Well, it looks as if I'd forgotten this when I first did the original version of this page fifteen years ago and had to hurriedly do a flashback scene showing Knuckles finding the Master Emerald and saying he'd returned it to Angel Island. But what didn't make any sense was the fact that Knuckles, for some reason, had then left Angel Island long enough for the Echidna Empire to get a foothold there. Unless he had a damn good reason to, Knuckles would not leave Angel Island.

So, I made a change wherin Knuckles didn't find the Master Emerald in Eggman's base after all, because it was already on its way into space, and the Echidna Empire intercepted it in transit and took it back to a vulnerable Angel Island themselves, hoping to seize control. Is it convoluted? Yes, it is a bit. But it fixes the glaring plothole of Knuckles, the obsessively dedicated Guardian of Angel Island and the Master Emerald having left Angel Island for no apparant reason.
