Commentary for September 08, 2018:
The Force is magic? Well, of course it is. It always has been. And Jedi have always been space wizards with laser swords. I say this as a proud, lifelong Star Wars fan. Embrace it, fellow Star Wars fans!
Time travel is a weird thing. I first conceived of this story not long after marathoning every series of Doctor Who from Eccleston to Capaldi, so time travel and its weird intricacies were fresh in my mind. Of course, the rules of time travel in Doctor Who seem to be whatever the writer wants them to be, and I tend to be quite forgiving as long as the show continues to tell compelling stories. But, I have to admit, it does spoil the illusion a bit for me when a fictional universe establishes rules and then doesn't follow them. I guess Doctor Who can be forgiven, having never really established rules of time travel per se, but just making vague off-hand references to them, so its inconsistencies don't spoil the illusion. Other series, not so much.
And it's not just time travel rules, it's all kinds of rules. Star Trek is a particularly bad offender for breaking its own rules, but then it's been around for over fifty years and has had many different writers over that time, whereas a shorter-lived series written more-or-less by just one writer, like Babylon 5 is much more internally consistent. Because I'm a massive geek, I like internal consistency and I've tried to make Eon's World as internally consistent as possible. That includes time travel rules.
So, as long as Sonic goes back in time and tells "present day" Tails what "future" Tails has told him, when this day comes for real, everything should happen just as it did before. Watch out for a future chapter of Eon's World 2.0 to see if it does.
