Page for July 13, 2003:

Commentary for September 07, 2018:

This page really illustrates just how out-of-practice I was at doing sprite comics when I created it. When I was first doing Eon's World, I took it as a failure if a single page was dominated by panels using the same background. I tried to keep scenes relatively concise and move the story to different locations a few times each page. This was to keep it interesting to look at. Even if there is great drama in the story, multiple successive panels of the same exact room is not very exciting. Unfortunately, this page turned into nothing but 18 panels of the same exact background. I'm not pleased with that, even if I think the writing here is good (and I do). But there you go. I was very out of practice.

But the burning question for this page is why did I kill Raikou? Well, Sweet Raikou Fighter, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. I have nothing against the character, whatsoever. It's just, after page #105 of the original version of Eon's World, she never appeared again. I attribute that to losing contact with her creator and therefore being uncomfortable continuing to feature her, as well as generally starting to limit the number of OC's included in the comic after Gary Webber and Stuart Edney asked me to stop featuring Lothar and Eastwood. After this point, I only took on one further OC, for what were ultimately bad reasons (those being that I was in a relationship with their creator), and that turned out to be a poor decision, which I'm going to revise in this remaster. (It's a good move, honestly, because it frees up over sixty pages for me to create new content with, and I have such ideas!)

But I digress.

Since Raikou dropped out of Eon's World around this time anyway, I decided to give her a proper sendoff to explain her disappearance. I guess that means she now gets the dubious honour of being the first named character death in Eon's World. 17-year-old me would have thought that was pretty grimdark and hardcore. 32-year-old me thinks, "Oh, my sweet summer child!"
