Page for June 01, 2003:

Commentary for September 03, 2018:

Like the previous page, this one also starts and ends in basically the same way as it did originally, but the middle part is different.

Before this remaster, Sonic and Davis never really had a formal first meeting with one another. They did have at least one brief encounter in page #122 and another encounter much later in pages #497 and #498, but never a proper first encounter where Davis could introduce himself and give an actual villain's speech. (Yes, spoilers: General Davis is a straight-up villain, not just a misguided character who needs a chance at redemption.) So I took this page's remaster as an opportunity to fix that.

I also wanted to use this story to show how much Sonic still resents GUN after their treatment of him in the past, and to build upon that with their treatment of Blaze here. I do use GUN throughout Eon's World as a way of exploring and expressing my own feelings on the military, and as a way of highlighting all the good a military can do vs. all the horrors it usually ends up doing.

Finally, this is basically Blaze's personal journey as a character coming to its conclusion, having now learned the value of friendship. Sure, I haven't even tried to follow the plot of Sonic Rush, but what Sonic comic, official or fan-made, has? (Actually, I'll bet there's a fan comic somewhere that has.) Instead, I've focused more on Blaze's personal journey and built a story around that that fits Eon's World. I'm pretty heckin' proud of it, too.
